The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Addis Ababa Institute of Technology, invites you to attend a seminar on:
High Frequency (HF) Propagation Study from Ethiopia

The seminar will present an overview of last December’s HF propagation study of the 1.8 MHz and 3.5 MHz Amateur Radio frequencies conducted from the university. Attendees will also learn about aspects of HF radio propagation, the unique challenges of the 1.8 Mhz and 3.5 Mhz bands, lessons learned, and technology available to improve reliability.
Ken Claerbout – is currently an Electrical Engineer for the U.S. government He received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University, Virginia, and a Master’sDegree Telecommunications, with emphasis in Public Policy, from George Mason University. Ken also holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management from George Washington University, Washington DC. Ken began his career in diplomatic telecommunications, working at US embassies overseas, including a three-year assignment to the Philippines. Following that he returned to the private sector, working as a project manager in service delivery of telecommunications networks for large Fortune 500 companies at Global One/Equant, part of France Telecom. He is past President of the Potomac Valley Radio Club (PVRC) with several hundred members covering five states. He currently serves as Vice President, Secretary, and Director of the Yasme Foundation (www.yasme.org), supporting scientific and educational projects related to amateur radio.
